Productive list building is one of the most important things you can do for your web site promotion. It takes time and techniques to get your email list going. Here are 3 top ways to list building.
On the Ordering Page
Many organizations that have newsletters or disseminate information in other ways will offer you the chance to sign up for a free newsletter. You can use this same technique--ask for their email addresses in exchange for a discount on an item, or a free ebook. Sure, sometimes people get their discounts and then unsubscribe, but many stay.
Try a Squeeze Page
A squeeze page is one that floats or pops up in front of a page you really wanted to see. It often asks for your email address, much like the check box. Many people will fill in the page just to get it out of the way, and others are truly interested. Many will stay subscribed.
Give Them Something
One thing you will have to do in exchange for the email in many cases is supply them with information, a regular communication (which you will have to produce come hell or high water, and on time), or a coupon or free offer (which you will have to send by email, allow them to download, or get off in snail mail promptly). While this is the best way to get their email addresses, you will still have to come up with the goods for productive list building
With list building, one of the most important things you can do is testing and tracking...not every lead source will be profitable..but you have to test to know.
